I'm revisiting one of my first releases, Busted in Bubbles, a sexy little short story designed to be a hot, quick read. I'll be posting a series of pivotal scenes over the next couple of weeks. Please enjoy!

Today's post features Emsley, my heroine.

Book Tagline: Is there anything better than a bath time romp with a hot man? Emsley Bourne wants to find out.

~*~

Emsley glanced in each direction before she used the master keycard to let herself into Rayne's cabin. If she'd figured the timing right, it shouldn't take longer than five minutes to short sheet his bed and another six to get the card back to the concierge desk. Poor Ron had no clue she'd borrowed his all access entry key to pull a prank. Hell, he didn't have any idea she'd lifted the damned thing at all.
With a smug smile, she crossed the living area and started up the spiral staircase to the loft. About five steps up, she froze, carefully listening and hearing water sloshing in the bathroom. Shit. Rayne must've skipped the fancy-pants dinner. Okay, could she still pull off her traditional short sheeting of his bed and still leave him none the wiser?
She pondered, considering her skill level against the chance he might discover her presence. Should she risk it?
Yeah. She loved a good challenge.
She started up the next step and stopped again. Wait… bath? What the hell? Curiosity ate its way through her intention of getting in and out. Rayne couldn't possibly be soaking in a tub. Hell. Yeah, he could… and he might have company. The thought bothered her… even if it shouldn't. She might find the combination of looks and brains a heady mixture, but it didn't give her any claim to his affections.
She hesitated. Indecision warred in her brain. She had zero desire to become a voyeur if Rayne had brought someone along for this trip and they'd decided to get kinky in the tub. She weighed her options. The possibility of finding him with some woman wrapped around him would be like a kick in the teeth, but…
Screw it. She made her way back down the steps, tip-toeing to the bathroom door.
She had to know if the do-it-all security expert liked to soak in a tub.

Sunday Snippet: Rise and Shine

October 26, 2014

Gotta say, I'm fairly easy to entertain, but I love it when the shows I watch elevate my standards. Right now, just about all my faves are hitting one hundred percent satisfaction levels. Once again, The Walking Dead blew me away. My super hero shows, Arrow, The Flash, Agents of SHIELD and Gotham are amping up the tension. My batshit insane shows, Haven, Sleepy Hollow, and Sons of Anarchy keep getting a little crazier and that keeps me glued to the television.

I also like a good mystery and got to watch Inspector Lewis last week. I usually catch up on the series when it's available on DVD, but I couldn't sleep and PBS was showing it. I've also been watching previous seasons of The Murdoch Mysteries (also known as The Artful Detective) on Ovation. Why they changed the name for US television is beyond me, but it's a great, fun Canadian show.

Tonight's post is from Rise and Shine, a contemporary novella with fun characters.

Here's the tagline:

Abram Purdy sees the same barista, Whitney Boone, every day of the week. She always knows exactly what he needs to get his day started. He runs into her on a Saturday jog and discovers she's accepting a teaching position at the local university and Abram decides to see if she'll still make his morning coffee—at his place.

And a snippety peek…

Abram entered Rise and Shine, his gaze seeking his favorite barista. Sure enough, Whitney had a line about ten deep standing in front of her station. She glanced up and waved, nodding for him to take a spot at the end.
He flashed a smile and followed her prompt. He didn't wait long either. She moved through the order with efficient ease, chatting up her regulars, and getting to know two new customers. The woman had a way of putting people at ease, yet keeping the flow smooth and moving in fast order.
His turn arrived and she had his order ready before he even reached the counter.
Putting the lid on the cup, she grinned. "Strong, black, and hot. I love how easy you make my job." She slid the cup in his direction. "Did you have a nice weekend?"
He nodded. "Not bad. Got started on a couple of new projects and ran errands. How did your weekend go?"
She waggled her eyebrows. "I had a hot date with my favorite guy."
His lips twitched. "And did Emory behave himself or did he try to mount all the female golden doodles again?"
Whitney laughed. "He controlled himself this time." She leaned in. "I told my sister if she wanted me to keep dog sitting when she goes out of town, she had to get him neutered." She shook her head. "I never want another owner chasing me down the sidewalk again."
Abram chuckled. "I don't blame you." He moved toward the checkout area. "See you tomorrow."
She waved and started mixing the next order.
These two have been so much fun to write. And yes, I know I say that all the time. LOL

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: Ring It In

October 19, 2014

Greetings!

Whew. Great television this past week. The Walking Dead premiere didn't disappoint. So happy it's back on my TV. And I'm all caught up on everything I normally watch. The Flash and Arrow are still kicking ass. Sons of Anarchy is totally insane and I can't wait to see how everything ends.

On Demand has me up to date on Haven, Sleepy Hollow, Agents of SHIELD, and Gotham. Pretty thrilled with Gotham so far. Some interesting little twists on the lore I'm quite enjoying.

Tonight's post is from Ring It In, a sexy short set around New Year's Eve and my heroine is looking forward to spending some much needed downtime all alone.

Here's the tagline:

Recovering from post-holiday family drama, Paris Lightful wants to spend New Year's Eve in her uncle's cabin with nothing but her laptop and a ton of action movies. When near blizzard conditions strand Deputy Kelton Pine at her location, Paris doesn't welcome the intrusion, especially since Kelton has a major chip on his shoulder. But once the ice breaks between the couple, things heat up rather quickly.

And a snippety peek…

Paris Lightful pulled up to the cabin and shut off the ignition. A light snow drifted down from the grey sky and she took a moment to enjoy watching the flakes dust the windshield. She loved being here in the winter, and especially enjoyed the fact she'd be blessedly alone after the holiday catastrophe her mom called a merry Christmas.
Grabbing her keys, she tossed them inside her bag and exited the vehicle. She popped the trunk and dragged her luggage out, hefting the carry-on over her shoulder and pulling the handle from her roll-on case. She wanted to get inside before the wintry mix got worse.
Stooping down, she lifted the edge of the welcome mat and snagged the key. "Thank you, Uncle Mick, for never changing." She unlocked the door and carried her gear inside the cozy space.
Her phone rang and she juggled her purse and carry-on, dragging the device from the front pocket of her jeans. "Hi, Uncle Mick. I just walked in the front door." Setting her bags down, she flipped on the lights. "The place looks great."
Her uncle chuckled. "Your dear mother would disagree, Parry, my girl."
Paris rolled her eyes at the nickname Uncle Mick had given her. "My lovely mother is the reason I'm here." She waited a beat. "Are you sure you weren't adopted, Uncle Mick?" The man couldn't be more different from his older sister.
His laugh rumbled over the line. "Yep, I'm sure. And your mom is fond of reminding me how much my birth screwed up her kindergarten year."
Paris snorted. "Only Martha has that kind of memory. I swear the woman forgets nothing." And Paris had a laundry list of stuff her mother loved to harp about. "Thanks again, Uncle Mick, for letting me use the cabin."
He tsked. "No problem, Parry. Now you go check and make sure the Hendermans remembered to stock the pantry and fridge, okay?"
Paris walked through the main room and ducked into the kitchen and did as instructed. "Looks like they left enough food to feed an army. I may have to stay an extra week to use it all up."
Mick chuckled. "Jo always goes overboard. Whatever you don't use, take home with you." He paused. "Or, feel free to stay that extra week, Parry. You could use a break and really recover, you know."
Her heart warmed. Uncle Mick understood how draining her mother's Christmas fetes were for Paris, and he actually gave a damn about her health. Martha expected Paris to make the rounds and put on a good show for her mom's friends and neighbors. What did it matter if her daughter's appendix almost burst and had to be removed?
Paris kicked her boots off and settled down on the couch. "I might just do that. I'm off until the fifteenth." She'd taken a leave of absence with the promise to be available via phone and computer, if needed. "The downtime sounds so appealing."
Mick snorted. "And it's not being spent with my sister so there's a bonus."
Paris laughed. "You know you love her, Uncle Mick. She's just easier to handle in small doses."
He agreed. "Too true, my dear. Now don't forget to turn up the thermostat to get the furnace going and if you need extra wood, call Ralph Henderman—the number is on the fridge. He'll bring a load if you need more."
Paris smiled. "I'll manage, Uncle Mick. Take care, okay?"
He responded with his usual reply. "I always do, Parry. I always do."
The line went dead and she set her phone on the coffee table. Getting up, she did as instructed and adjusted the thermostat, then headed to the fireplace to start a fire. The Hendermans had laid everything out and she only needed to light a match to get it going.
She had a list with action movies to watch and decided to pop some corn over the flames before getting started. She pushed thoughts of her mom and family drama out of her mind. With several deep, cleansing breaths, the stressed tension in her shoulders fell away and she finally relaxed.
Glancing at her watch, she exhaled on a sigh. "Blissed out day commencing now."

Yeah, her bliss won't last very long. LOL

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

I'm revisiting one of my first releases, Busted in Bubbles, a sexy little short story designed to be a hot, quick read. I'll be posting a series of pivotal scenes over the next couple of weeks. Please enjoy!

Today's post features Rayne, my hero.

Book Tagline: Is there anything better than a bath time romp with a hot man? Emsley Bourne wants to find out.

~*~

The tradeshow paid off! Right on schedule.
Rayne McKinnon shook hands with Jorn Pestle, sealing the most lucrative security-consulting job he'd ever landed. "I'll have preliminary recommendations to you by Tuesday."
Pestle smiled. "Now, Rayne, there's no rush. And with the amount I just agreed to pay, you should be able to kick back and skate for at least a week. Don't you ever take any downtime?"
Rayne chuckled. "Staying on my toes is the entire reason I sold you on my services."
Jorn nodded. "True, true. But at least take the night and do something fun."
Rayne agreed. He had a plan to celebrate already in place. Nothing Jorn would probably find enjoyable, but Rayne didn't particularly care. If tradition held firm, he had the potential to do something way more than fun.
Heading out of the main lodge's executive lounge, he dropped by the concierge to place a quick order for room service, to be delivered in about an hour. He needed to make a few strategic stops before he made his way to the private cabin tucked back in a dense copse of tall pines.
Wandering around the vendor area, he spied the booth he'd been seeking. He'd been too busy meeting with potential clients to get into the sales room before now. Making a quick perusal, he didn't see the person he wanted, but oh, he heard her. Her loud peal of laughter preceded her when she exited from the private transaction space curtained off from the rest of the booth. The enthusiastic handshake with her buyer indicated she'd made a big sale.

Sunday Snippet: Rescue Me

October 12, 2014

Hi!

Wow, what a week in TV. The Flash and Arrow premieres rocked pretty much the whole week. I'm all caught up on Haven, Sleepy Hollow, and Agents of SHIELD. Sons of Anarchy had a solid episode and The Walking Dead premieres tonight!!

YAY!

The cast of Bitten went to the New York Comic Con and images and interviews are lining up on my Tumblr dashboard. I also got my season one DVDs this week. Rewatch ahoy!

Thinking it's a good time to dust of my recap blog and get back doing Arrow and Bitten recaps, along with maybe a weekly roundup to include The Flash. I may also vent my frustration with the new series of Doctor Who… or not. Who knows. LOL

Tonight's post is from Rescue Me, a novella where my characters are getting ready to celebrate their anniversary… if exhaustion doesn't claim them first. J

Here's the tagline:

After twenty-four hours of non-stop runs in two busy station houses, Skylar Darns and Hayes Parrison, two extremely good paramedics, are ready to throw in the towel and have someone rescue them. The one saving grace? They spend the day planning their anniversary celebration—one they may be too exhausted to attend.

And a snippety peek…

Skylar's alarm clock, set for six, didn't wake her up. Nope. Hayes running his fingers back and forth between her legs did the trick. A five-thirty wakeup call on a day they had to work… totally worth it.
She spread her thighs and moaned. "Hayes… you'd better be hard and ready." Her hand sought his erection and the man didn't disappoint. The heavy length filled her palm.
Her eyes popped open and she angled her head to glance over her shoulder. "Mmmm. Definitely hard, but are you ready?"
A slow grin spread across his face. "Always, for you." He grasped her knee with his free hand and draped her leg over his hip.
She lifted her butt and positioned her cleft over the tip of his cock. "One of the many things I love about you." He thrust upward and she gasped before settling down and taking him deep.
I'll just say by the same time the next morning, they won't be quite so playful. J

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: Reflex Reaction

Greetings!

Ugh. I got a few days off and decided to get a nasty cold. LOL Nothing like mixing sinus meds with everything else. :D

This week in TV is almost a bust. I don't think I've watched anything in real time, with the exception of Sons of Anarchy. No comment from me, but my big wish from a few weeks ago still holds true AND I'm pretty sure Jax is fighting a war from within. We'll find out if I'm on the right track soon. J

Arrow premiers this week and hopefully I'll be home to watch it live. I can't wait. And this time next week should see The Walking Dead gracing my screen again. YAY!

Tonight's post is from Reflex Reaction, a novella set in a small town where my characters get to find their way back to each other.

Here's the tagline:

Rory Crame longs for more than her small hometown can provide. She escapes, leaving her childhood sweetheart, Gib Larrison, behind. Seven years later she returns, older and wiser, with a better appreciation for what she walked away from—especially Gib, who doesn't seem at all interested in rekindling their romance.

And a snippety peek…

Rory entered the dimly lit lounge and quickly spied Gib and Miss Manners Ava. She strode forward, shoving doubt aside and running on sheer instinct. Stopping beside the table, complete with two burning taper candles, she grabbed a hold of Gib's shirt and tugged him forward.
With little choice, he got up, following closely so she didn't stretch or tear the fabric. "Where are we going, Rory?"
She didn't trust herself to speak and charged ahead, dragging Gib along behind. Stopping by the ladies room, she glanced both ways then pushed the door open and hauled Gib in behind her.
He yanked away, straightened his shirt, and made a move to exit. Rory dashed in front of him and blocked the door.
He crossed his arms over his chest. "What the hell?"
Having him where she wanted him didn't make it any easier to actually explain.
She cocked her head to one side. "Look, I just can't stand the idea of you being with her." God, could she sound any more stupid or trite?
Gib snorted. "What, exactly, are you gonna do about it?" He unfolded his arms and lowered his hands.
She took a step forward. "How about this?" She mashed their mouths together and popped the button of his jeans, fishing her hand under the denim to palm the hard erection.

Um, yeah. Rory isn't one to waste a lot of time when she makes a plan of action. LOL

That's it for this week. Happy reading!
