Sunday Snippet: The Hunt

Happy holiday season to everyone! I'm ready for a busy week and a quiet Christmas. We're always pretty low-key and this year my oldest is in the middle of moving out for the first time. I'm thrilled for him but don't envy the chaos. Moving is challenging when it isn't the holiday. LOL

Didn't get much television watched this week. Have an ongoing project that's due by the beginning of January and I'm focused on getting it finished up.

I did listen to a lot of holiday tunes while working and I got sucked into a Scorpion binge marathon. Other than that, I watched the usual classic Perry Mason and The Saint.

Looking forward possibly getting to the movies I'd like to watch this week.

Tonight's post is from The Hunt, a fun romp with a twist on a scavenger hunt.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Megan and Guy, corporate retreat directors, stage a scavenger hunt for their client's team-building exercise. After a major disagreement, the couple spends most of their time making up—and trying not to get caught in compromising positions.

And a snippety peek…

"We're fifteen minutes out. I can't tell you how excited I am about this new idea." Joe gushed on the phone.

Guy's eyes widened. "Glad to hear it. We'll be ready when you get here." He hung up with Joe and glance toward Megan. "He loves the new team-building exercise idea." A relief after the tension-filled meeting two weeks ago.

Megan smirked. "Did you really doubt he wouldn't?" She got up and came around the desk to straddle his lap. "We do our best work when faced with a challenge and a goal." Her lips brushed over his.

Of course, his blood heated. Always did when she got up close and personal. Joe said they were fifteen minutes out…

Guy cupped her ass, pulling her flush with his groin. "We do, don't we?" The challenge and goal here; get hot and bothered before the Aztec group arrived.

Megan's lips curved in a sexy grin. "I know exactly what you're thinking." Her hands worked his belt loose. "And I say we push the boundary right now." Her head dipped and her mouth closed over his.

Hell, he wouldn't argue. His fingers worked the buttons of her blouse loose and he spread the garment wide. She wore a frilly bra in the palest pink today and the scalloped edges tickled his nose when he leaned in to nuzzle her cleavage.

Megan made a hum of satisfaction. "My turn." Her palms skimmed over his chest then tugged his shirt up and over his head. "Love it when you make it easy to get you undressed."

He'd gone with a pullover and twill pants today. The group decided on casual attire for their scavenger hunt-themed retreat. Megan had flared skirt and cotton blouse along with a pair of espadrilles.

He pushed her skirt up and raised his butt off the chair so she could drag his pants down. Her mouth ghosted over his skin and along his jaw. Her hand found his cock and circled it.

His lips found hers and he pushed the matching pale pink panties to one side. Megan lifted her hips ready to take him deep.

The buzz of the phone halted their progress.

Megan groaned. "Argh." She reached back and grabbed the handset. "Megan Dewes." She listened then nodded. "Yes, Anna. We'll be right there." Hanging up, she sighed. "Aztec just pulled in. Anna's not sure how the check-in is going to work with the new concept." She reluctantly slid back and stood up.

Guy straightened his clothes, gingerly tucking his still hard dick back into his pants. "We kind of expected a few snags." He got up making sure he got his shirt on straight and not inside out.

Megan buttoned her blouse, a small frown marring her features.

Guy grasped her hips and hauled her close. "Hold this thought … I want more of this later." He caught her lips in a quick, hard kiss.

Her mouth curved upward. "I'll hold you to it." Turning, she crossed the office and exited to assist Anna.

Guy relished watching her ass sway under the skirt then followed her out to greet Joe's group.

Megan and Guy have been fun to write. I love taking an established couple and throwing a challenge at them.

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: The Hunt

A low-key week finally. Didn't have a ton of running around to do and got a lot accomplished. Finished up a developmental edit for an author and two full copy edits. I'm thrilled with the productivity!

Not a bad week in television. I rewatched the premiere of Wynonna Earp because it was soooo good. Also caught another episode of Canal Road and The Dresden Files.

Finished series twelve of Midsomer Murders and caught a few episodes of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries on Ovation.

Started a rewatch of Babylon 5, one of my all-time favorite shows. Caught volume one of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. Also caught another season two episode of The Sarah Conner Chronicles. I seriously forgot how much I loved that show. And it holds up pretty well, too. Finished Constantine and I'm ready for more John on Legends of Tomorrow.

Got an episode of Pensacola: Wings of Gold in and had mini-marathons of Murder, She Wrote and In the Heat of the Night.

Also watched the next episodes of Wynonna Earp and Killjoys. I'm gutted by events in Wynonna and Killjoys kicked ass in ways I thoroughly enjoyed. Seriously, Syfy, please give me more shows like these. Please.

Got started on a few other shows but didn't have time to finish them yet. An update on those will come next week.

And that's it for television this week. Tonight's post is from The Hunt, a sexy short featuring a fun scavenger hunt.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Megan and Guy, corporate retreat directors, stage a scavenger hunt for their client's team-building exercise. After a major disagreement, the couple spends most of their time making up—and trying not to get caught in compromising positions.

And a snippety peek…

Guy quirked a brow. "I'm sorry you're feeling bored." He glanced toward Megan. "What's the solution?" Aside from Guy punching Joe's teeth in.
Megan picked up the conversation thread. "You and I going to brainstorm ideas to change things up a little and get back to Joe in…" She looked at their calendar. "A day or two?"
Joe jerked his gaze up to meet Megan's. "Er, yeah, that'll be fine." He flushed guiltily. "Can you call me directly instead of going through Annie?"
Guy checked out of the discussion to avoid calling Joe out on his leering. The man's gaze hadn't left Megan's bust line since Guy entered, with the exception of when he walked in. Not that he blamed Joe. Her impressive bosom made men drool all the time. Including Guy. He didn't begrudge the males' reactions, mainly because she only showed the full frontal to Guy. He kicked back in the seat and let Megan hammer out the primary details.
Which she did with her usual flair.
She walked Joe to the door. "Thanks, Joe. We appreciate the opportunity to find a workable plan that will knock your socks off and definitely not be boring." Ushering him out into the reception area, she gave a waggle-fingered wave before closing the solid oak and heaving a sigh.
Uh-oh. That probably means I'm in trouble.
He should've helped more with Joe. Aztec provided repeat business year in and year out and happened to be one of their founding clients. Maybe I'm as bored with them as they are with us. Then again, he'd been testy for over a month. He and Megan jumped through flaming damn hoops to cultivate new companies and add them to the roster. He needed a break.
Dammit. Why didn't Megan?
Would it really hurt to lose leering Joe for one session? Duh, dumbass. If he leaves they'll find another company for their team-building exercises.
Right now… Guy couldn't find much of a reason to care.

I'm having fun with this one. Still need to work out the scavenger hunt details, but it's coming together nicely.

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: The Hunt

Just in time for the weekend, snow showers in Ohio. LOL Considering I was still wearing shorts and flip-flops in October, I won't gripe anymore. J

Update on the gimpy kid… she'd made huge strides over the last week, going from her splint down to a boot and now easing into a brace. She's doing therapy and it's making a huge difference. She won't be ready to jump hurdles before the end of track season, but she's mobile and crutchless for the most part. *throws confetti*

Sad there isn't a new Walking Dead, but also a little relieved. I'll give next season a quick go then decide if I can deal with Negan or not.

The Magicians is almost to the season ender and I'm kind of excited to see what happens. Bitten is also two episodes away from its finale and I'm kind of sad there won't be any new episodes to look forward to.

No new The Flash, but Agents of SHIELD had a terrific showing. I rather like how the deep division seems to be setting up Captain America: Civil War.

Arrow… wow. I'm actually kind of shocked at who we lost. That said, never say die in a show based on a comic series. There's a solid chance we'll see the one we lost again.

Legends of Tomorrow put a good episode together. I really love the complicated mix and relationships portrayed. I will admit, I'm actually kind of tired of Savage constantly having the upper hand. I'd like to see a serious blow dealt to him and maybe an introduction of some other villains.

Still need to watch Banshee, but I have the eps ready to go. And the first episode of Wynonna Earp proved awesome! If the second ep is as good, I'm all-in. Kind of looking forward to The Hunters and hoping it holds my interest.

That's it for TV this week.

Tonight's post is from The Hunt, a sexy short based on the prompt "personal space violation." How could this one not be fun?

Here's the mini-blurb:

Megan and Guy, corporate retreat directors, stage a scavenger hunt for their client's team building exercise. After a major disagreement, the couple spends most of their time making up—and trying not to get caught in compromising positions.

And a snippety peek…

"If I have to do one more team-building exercise by creating a fort out of office furniture that culminated in a group sing-along of "Kumbaya", I'm going to kill someone. I think it's time we pulled our contract and went looking for a different place to hold our corporate retreats." Joe Homage folded his arms over his chest and heaved a frustrated breath.
Megan Dewes pursed her lips and pondered how to respond to the outburst. Mid-level groups like Aztec Holdings had a ton of turnover in their ranks and always looked for ways to help their employees work together toward the common goal of selling more equipment. Joe Homage, the VP of sales, attended every session—usually two per year—and this would make his tenth outing. No wonder he'd boarded the crazytown express.
Megan rose and made her way around the desk, propping a hip on the edge. "What can I do to liven things up for you, Joe?" She didn't want to lose Aztec's business, not when she and her partner were finally going to have time off.
Which they wouldn't get if Joe pulled the plug.
He shot her a look. "Really? You're going to use sales tactics on me?" He dropped his arms and turned away. "Because I can sell swampland in Florida."
Megan quirked a smile. "Okay, then. Why don't you tell me what you want and I'll see if we can make it happen. You've always had the option to change your package, Joe." Of course, he didn't do the booking, his exec assistant did.
Which meant he probably didn't have clue he could request something different.
Joe cocked his head to one side. "Well, uh, I don't know. But there's gotta be something besides the same old stuff all the time." He gave her a hopeful look.
Megan started to reply, but the door opened and her partner entered, carrying two cups of coffee from the kitchen carafe.
Guy Rillion never failed to take her breath away… or to not distract her when he walked into a room. But she had an account to save, so she only nodded and scrambled to come up with a new idea for Joe's group.
Reaching across the desk, she pulled the Aztec file toward her and flipped it open. "Let's just check and see what we can shuffle around here." Joe leaned in, his shoulder brushing hers.
Guy moved through the office, placing the coffee on the desk and settling into the chair. "Morning, Joe. What's up?" He met Megan's gaze for a brief second before turning his attention to their client.
Joe straightened. "Er, well, I was thinking about pulling the contract, but Megan asked for some ideas to change up the program a little. You know, shake things up so they're not so boring." He finished on a mumble.
Megan stuck her tongue in her cheek to keep from snorting with laughter. She didn't know whether to whip out a ruler or walk away.
Guy looked ready to do battle and Joe like he wanted to crawl away as quickly as possible. Nothing like a bona fide measuring contest to get the day started.

Having a great time with this one…

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: The Hunt

May 4, 2014

Another nice week in TV. Arrow keeps going at a breakneck pace. I'm so excited to see how the season ends. S.H.I.E.L.D keeps me guessing a little and I like that. I'm not quite sure how I feel about Ward's situation, but I'd love to see if they can actually redeem the guy. And make me believe it. :D Orphan Black blew my mind. One… because I totally called Cal's role in Sarah's former life. I won't spoil anything here, but I had a gut feeling about him. Now I'm wondering if one of my hopes for Rachel comes to fruition. *crosses fingers* And how about the ending? Oh, man, I seriously hope that Daniel dude gets his comeuppance. Or dies. Either way would suit me. :D

Tonight's post is from the novella, The Hunt, where my couple works and plays together, but not without butting heads sometimes.

Here's the tagline:

Megan and Guy, corporate retreat directors, stage a scavenger hunt for their client's team building exercise. After a major disagreement, the couple spends most of their time making up—and trying not to get caught in compromising positions.

And a snippety peek…

Guy crossed his arms over his chest. "And I suppose it was totally necessary to flash your cleavage at the VP of Sales, right?"
Megan rolled her eyes. "I didn't flash my tits, Guy." She paused. "Not intentionally, anyway." She lifted a shoulder. "Not my fault I've got a nice rack. Blame my mother."
Guy growled. "Your mother is a sweet woman who wouldn't think to use her assets to seduce a team leader into not cancelling a retreat." He paced back and forth. "If Joe Homage doesn't want to be here, let him leave. The rest of the group will follow his lead." Guy stopped. "Do you really want to fight, tooth and nail, to keep this one on the line?"
Megan sighed. "Look, Guy, we need the cash flow this month if we want to take the winter off, right? Exchanging a few niceties can let me get to know what Joe's problem is so we can get this retreat back on track."
Guy conceded her point. "Fine. What's his problem?" He sank down on the chair behind the desk. "Aside from the roving eye?"
Megan snorted, but didn't take the bait. "He's been through twenty-five of these team building exercises in as many years." She sat on the chair facing Guy. "Basically, he's bored, tired, and knows the drill better than anyone."
Guy nodded. "But he's the VP, probably stuck and not going anywhere else, and he's the leader—"
Megan finished the statement. "So his participation is mandatory every time they shake things up and bring in new blood."
Guy's mouth thinned for several moments, then tilted upward in a smile. "Scavenger hunt." He rifled around and dragged a notebook out from under a stack of files.
Megan grinned. "Brilliant. Something out of the ordinary, where instead of finding office supplies, they have to work as a team to piece together a puzzle, maybe?"
Guy wrote out a list of interesting items and turned it toward Megan. She snagged his pen and added a few things to make the search even more motivating.
Guy's gaze dropped to read over her additions and he barked out a laugh. "Not sure that last one is even legal, Megan."
She shrugged and leaned forward, putting her ample cleavage on display. "Don't care. It'll be fun to see how they react." She grabbed Guy's tie with one hand and hauled him close. "Are we back on track?"
Guy slid a hand across the surface of the desk, working two buttons of her shirt loose, exposing the vivid floral print of her bra. "We are now." His mouth met hers and his fingers dipped under the lacy trim of the D-cup, stroking her skin.
Megan moaned and deepened the kiss, letting it catch flame and go hot.

Honestly? Megan's wicked sense of humor keeps this one fun to write. J

That's it for this week. Happy reading.
