Sunday Snippet: Summer's Eve (Organic Nature)

May is winding down and it's been kind of a whirlwind month. Or I might be hitting that age where time seems to fly by faster every day.

Not a bad work week. I finished up a project and jumped back into one that had been sitting on the back burner for a while. Also started a new one. Got some writing done also, which makes me happy because the sages have been on an extended vacation.

Pretty good week of viewing also. I managed to go through my slate of shows twice and finished up an episode I left hanging a few weeks ago.

Watched two episodes of The Brokenwood Mysteries. Thoroughly enjoyed both. I'm so excited this show is back for another season. I love the characters so much.

Caught two episodes of Death in Paradise. Finished up season seven and ended up liking it a lot. Starting season eight this week.

Started watching Best in Paradise, which features the favorite episodes of the cast. Got two viewed, and I think I'll continue watching. They have fun intros from the cast member and why the episode is one of their favorites.

Watched two episodes of Elementary and I really love how Joan is being fleshed out and using her knowledge. Also kind of happy to see some growth with Sherlock.

Enjoyed two episodes of The Batman. I remembered both and enjoyed each one. Really fun to have Robin and Batgirl working together to take down the rogues.

Caught one episode of Suspects and it ended up being a twisty affair, which I love. I have two more episodes of season four and then I'll start the final fifth season.

Watched two episodes of Classic Rugrats. Finished up the lead-in to the movie and caught the first episode post wedding. Fun stuff.

Also finished an episode of Peak Practice I started a couple of weeks ago. The later seasons seem to be a little hit or miss for me. Can't wait to finally get to season twelve.

Eppie Collins is used to not seeing much of Vin during the month of June but suggests a spontaneous camping trip when the weather turns nasty with thunderstorms. A few days in a cabin with pouring rain as their soundtrack can't be a bad thing.

And a snippety peek…

Eppie stood on the porch, enjoying the light show. "I love a summer storm." Especially when being naked would otherwise be an issue.

The warm temperatures and humidity meant the gusty wind cooled more than chilled her skin. And being on the porch protected her from most of the steady rainfall. The fine mist blowing through the newly added screening tantalized and heightened her anticipation of Vin's arrival.

The slam of a vehicle door had her lips curving upward. "Incoming in five…" Her mind pictured Vin entering the front door and striding through the main room. "Four…" He'd toss his keys on the counter and toe off his boots. "Three…" Probably glance up to the loft and find it dark… "Two…" Then head on through the kitchen and to the back door. "One…" She turned to find Vin standing in the nude with a very hard dick.

No doubt he left a trail of clothes from the front of the house to the back.

His breath whooshed out. "Sweet mercy, Ep. You're gorgeous out here." He moved forward, a wolfish glint in his eyes.

Eppie arched her brows. "And you're raring to go…" Her hand fisted his hard-on. "Out here … in the elements?" She wanted him buried deep while the thunder rolled and boomed.

Vin's lips kicked up on one side. "Oh, yeah. A quick one to take the edge off." His hands skimmed up along her sides to cup her breasts.

His thumbs brushed over her taut nipples before his head dipped down to capture the right peak between his lips. Eppie's head fell back, and she tugged on the rod of flesh in her palm. If possible, he grew bigger and harder. A low rumble of thunder rolled in the distance and the spotty, sputtery rain turned into a full-on downpour.

Vin straightened and nudged Eppie around to face the screens. "Perfect timing…" His hot breath fanned against her neck.

She grasped the back of the rattan loveseat, placed her knees on the cushion, and leaned forward, sticking her ass out. "Absolutely perfect as soon as you give me what I need." She wiggled her hips.

Vin didn't disappoint. He moved forward, palming the globe of her butt with one hand. He used the other to run his length up and down her slick folds to get her good and ready for his smooth thrust of entry. He slid deep, bottoming out when his groin met her ass.

Eppie made a hum of satisfaction at the same moment a streak of lightning flared in the sky.

Perfectly perfect timing…

Eppie and Vin are a joy to write. I love writing an established couple and showing their ups and downs on the page.

Sunday Snippet: Summer's Eve

Well … November has arrived and the weather is cooling off to true fall-like temperatures. It's pretty chilly when I take the dogs out for the final time at night. Brrr.

Had a limited work week with only one project on my desk. Sometimes it's nice to have the extra time to get things done around the house. I'm still on my great clear-out and making solid progress. I have a new couch coming later this month and I'm excited to get everything ready for it.

Decent week of television. I caught four episodes of The Muppet Show. Anne Murray, Jonathan Winters, Star Wars / Mark Hamill, and Christopher Reeve were the guest stars. I remember the Star Wars episode from childhood. My brothers and I loved that one.

Finished up Prime Suspect and actually loved the way the series ended. I don't remember if I actually got to finish the entire series when I watched the first time so I'm glad I got to complete the entire run. Really like the bookend of how it began with how it ended.

Watched two episodes of Peak Practice. As suspected, David's wife kind of went off the rails and the climax of that happened in the second episode. I'm also enjoying Paul's storyline. Nice to see him pop up about every other episode.

Caught two more MasterClass lessons with Brandon McMillan. He's very good at explaining his technique and I'm hoping I'll be able to work with both dogs to have them behave better.

Watched another episode of Glitch and this show is as trippy as I thought it would be. Three episodes in and I'm still not quite sure what's going on. James has quite the dilemma on two fronts and it's almost uncomfortable watching him juggle everything.

Enjoyed another Pop Profiles. This one featured Jennifer Lopez. I didn't learn a lot of new things about her career but I loved revisiting some of her stellar moments.

Caught two more episodes of Classic Rugrats. This show is so much fun to revisit. Had a chance to talk to my oldest and reminisce a little about how much we loved watching when he was little.

Watched a great episode of Chicago Med. I'm starting to really enjoy Dr. Latham. I also loved getting into a little more of Goodwin's story. Also really liked Reece's storyline for this episode.

Enjoyed another episode of The Brokenwood Mysteries. I've been enjoying having Frodo pop up in weird jobs. My hope is he'll eventually end up at the Toad and Lion. He'd make a great bartender.

Started a new episode of Blue Heelers. This one is interesting with a rural flavor to it. I'm feeling bad for Adam. He's got it bad for Chris and she's not going there because of their age difference.

Started the final two-parter of Silent Witness for season thirteen. This is another South Africa setting. I have a very vague memory of what happened the first time I watched and I'm looking forward to the second part to see if I remember anything else.

I'm almost finished with season twenty of Classic Who. The Master did show up again in a two-part arc and that leaves one final episode left. "The Five Doctors" will round out the season and we'll be on to twenty-one.

Enjoyed another episode of Roswell: The Final Verdict. This focused on how the government went to a lot of trouble to silence witnesses of the crash. The AI found a couple of false statements and that always interests me. Looking forward to the next episode.

Vin took a sip of beer and set the mug on the table to fish his phone out of his pocket. "Derbish."

Eppie chuckled. "Forgot to check the ID, didn't you?"

His lips kicked into a grin. "Yep. It's dark in here." He waited a beat. "What's the plan?" He really hoped she'd be able to meet him.

Eppie pitched her voice low. "The plan is for you to cut out as soon as you can and make your way to the cabin."

Vin fist-pumped the air. "You'll meet me?" He took another long draw of his beer.

Eppie made a purring sound. "No, you'll meet me. I'm already here." She paused a moment. "Sans clothes."

Vin set the mug down and stood up. "Seriously? I'm on my way." He hung up to the sound of her laughter.

Signaling to one of his foremen, Vin nodded toward the door. Mark gave Vin a thumbs-up and Vin exited Mo's to hear a low rumble of thunder. The wind picked up a little and the tree limbs swayed, the leaves turning inside out.

Vin made a dash to his truck and looked out the windshield. "Rain's headed this way." The clouds started rolling in and the sky darkened a little more.

He started the engine and put the vehicle in gear. Twenty minutes to the cabin … he'd be racing the weather. Turning out onto the highway, big, fat raindrops started an intermittent plop, plop, plop on the hood of his truck. Excitement thrummed under his skin when the sky lightened up from lightning off in the distance.

He couldn't wait to get to Eppie. He missed her when the long hours kept him away. Her love of a good storm followed by a day or two of drenching rain meant he'd have an enjoyable break after working nonstop for two weeks.

Her words echoed in his mind. Sans clothes. Maybe she'd greet him at the door … or be waiting in the bed. Didn't matter to him. He planned to get naked within the first thirty seconds of arrival.

"Get ready, Ep. We've got some lost time to make up for."

Eppie and Vin are so much fun and I love writing little moments in the progression of their relationship.

Sunday Snippet: Summer's Eve

Whew. Long, long week with a ton of busywork stuff along with my regular workload. I sometimes get the idea that most of my family members don't realize how long or how many phone calls it often takes to make things happen. Luckily, I'm in a position where my job isn't at stake if I need to make those frequent and often time-sucking phone calls. But… bleh.

Had an even more sporadic viewing week. I'm not fairly behind on a lot of my shows. But… I did catch up on some laundry so not a bad tradeoff. I got two episodes of Blue Heelers in while folding and stacking clothes. LOL

I got a little more of Riverdale watched but haven't finished the episode yet. I might be getting to the place where I need to switch over to music. The main reason I've been light on viewing for the past few weeks is a heavy work schedule and lots of distractions from other drama.

I have so many playlists that I listen to while driving. I should probably start listening to them while working also. Maybe I'll start that this week.

Eppie Collins ran inside to grab the phone. "Hello." Her breath came out in gasping pants.

Vin Derbish groaned. "Damn, Eppie, it sounds like you're having sex."

She laughed. "That would be hard to do since you're not around." The month of June hit squarely in the middle of his busiest time of year.

He sighed. "And I won't be for at least another week. But…" He paused to say something to one of his workers. "I have an idea for getting together if you can get someone to cover the farm this weekend and maybe make a couple of calls for me."

She liked the sound so far. "Fill me in and I'll bribe or beg whoever I have to." If Lily couldn't cover weekend hours, Dani might be able to.

And Dani owed Eppie for the Easter emergency, even if Eppie would've been there no matter what.

Vin's voice came through louder and clearer. "Whew. Sorry. Next time I'll wait until I'm actually in my truck before I call." He switched over to Bluetooth. "So… if you can find someone to cover, Greg mentioned he'd be staying in town from Wednesday through Monday morning. He's helping spearhead the organizers for the veterans who'll be participating in the summer reading program at the library. That means the cabin will be free and I thought maybe you could meet me there."

Eppie hesitated a little. "I'd love to, Vin, but how do you see this working? Me at the cabin for fourteen hours a day while you're working? Which isn't a no, by the way, more a question about whether it's worth making the trip for the whole weekend." She could go up on Saturday and head back on Sunday.

Vin chuckled. "Man, I'm screwing this up royally. Check the weather report. We're supposed to get a line of thunderstorms rolling through for the next five days." He waited until she'd pulled up her app. "There's a good chance I'll be available and I know how much you love storms."

Eppie pictured watching the clouds roll in from the cabin's small porch. "Oh, yeah. Sounds awesome." She waved to Lily when she entered through the front door. "Let me talk to Lily and double-check with Greg. I'll give you a call later, say after nine?" He usually worked until they had no light left.

This close to the summer solstice meant he put in some very late evenings.

Vin let out a whoop. "That'll work. I'll probably be having a beer with the guys at Mo's." The little tavern sat just across the county line and had half a dozen rooms Vin's crew had taken over.

Eppie grinned, getting excited. "I'll speak with Lily now. Love you." She ended the call and motioned Lily over. "I have a proposition for you…"

I love this couple so much. This series is a joy to write and coming up with small… snapshots… into their relationship is challenging but also fantastic.
