Sunday Snippet: Late Summer Engagement (an Organic Nature short)

Wow. June is kicking my ass and it's only seven days old. I'm choosing to look at the beginning of the month as the bottom of the well and it can only get better, because I won't be able to handle another appliance going down. Thankfully, delivery services are available on Sunday and I have shiny new fridge to replace the one that died on Friday. And my coffeemaker decided to be wonky this morning so, yeah, I'm still trying to troubleshoot that one. Glad I can pour over in an emergency.

Other than the appliance fiasco, the weather is all over the map, which isn't unusual in Ohio. More chilly days and a few really humid ones. Rain, wind, and little bit of sun. We're supposed to have a drippy week, which is okay because I don't think it's supposed to be severe weather.

Pretty decent work week. I finished up a few projects and should be close to finishing up the one that won't seem to end. Started a new proofread and I'm making good progress on it, even with the appliance distractions.

Had an okay viewing week also. Made it through my usual list of shows but didn't get to the back-burner ones.

Started the week with half an episode of Foyle's War. Should finish it up this week and move on to the bonus episodes.

Also caught the season twelve finale of Brokenwood Mysteries. Really enjoyed this season and hope to have another one because this is definitely a comfort show.

Watched an episode of Death in Paradise. Loved getting some good character building for Seb. I'm also looking forward to getting some for the new sergeant.

Enjoyed an episode of Poirot. This one took a bit of a twist and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next episode.

Elementary finished up a two-parter and the resolution ended up being fun. Also loved Sherlock's excitement about becoming a godparent.

Caught another episode of Young Justice and quite enjoyed it. Very fun to see Wally face his disbelief in magic.

Loved watching an episode of Star Trek Lower Decks. The callbacks to other series are such a delight in this show.

That's pretty much it for the life update. Tonight's post is from Late Summer Engagement, a sexy short in the Organic Nature universe.

Here's the miniblurb:

Vin's ready to spend his life with Eppie, but he's not sure she wants to be the marrying kind. Instead of proposing, he suggests something a little different. As usual, Eppie surprises him with her response.

And snippety peek…

Vin loved Eppie, especially when she rarely failed to know exactly what his thoughts were.
He followed her up the steps, his eyes glued to the rounded curves beneath her shorts. "No calls or pickups scheduled?" He grinned when she snorted.
She entered their room and turned to face him. "I'm one hundred percent, completely yours right now." Her fingers slid under the hem of her shirt, and she yanked it up and over her head.
Vin pulled his tee off and tossed it on the laundry pile. "Good to know." He popped the button on his cargo shorts.
Eppie's mouth curved. She undid the clasp of her bra and let the garment fall to the floor. She slowly slid her shorts past her hips letting them drop before stepping out of them.
Vin dropped his and stood in his boxer briefs. He reached out and hauled Eppie close before capturing her mouth with his again. His hand smoothed down her back and his fingers edged under her panties, slipping them over the curve of her ass.
Eppie worked her palms under his briefs and pushed them downward. She didn't wait for them to fall … before circling his hard length in her grip and gliding up and down.
Vin groaned. "Feels good." He untangled his feet from the underwear and nudged her toward the bed.
She sat on the edge of the mattress and grasped his hip, pulling him close to sink her lips over his cock. Her tongue swirled around the shaft before she took him deeper into her mouth. Cupping his balls, she fondled them while bobbing back and forth on his dick.
Vin's fingers threaded through her hair. He rolled his hips, relishing the hot action and suction. Eppie hummed … the vibration sending zings of lust through him.
He eased away and nodded for her to move up on the bed. One side of her mouth twisted in a grin, and she scooted back and up, placing her feet on the mattress. Vin put a knee beside her hips then ghosted his palm along her leg before sliding his fingers through her folds. Wet and slippery, he inserted two fingers into her core and brushed his thumb over her clit.
Eppie arched her back, rocking her hips. "Guh. So good." She gripped his forearm and used it to gain purchase and create more friction.
Vin flexed his fingers, hitting the spongy spot that would send Eppie over the edge. She shuddered and gasped then hooked her leg around his hips, urging him for more.
He grabbed her hips with both hands and lifted them to meet his groin.
Eppie gazed at him with passion-clouded eyes. "Now, Vin. I want you now."
He wouldn't deny her anything. Moving forward, he thrust deep in one stroke.
Eppie's eyes rolled back. "That's what I need." She wriggled her pelvis against his. "You're what I need."
He'd never get tired of hearing her say those words.

I have so much fun writing the Organic Nature shorts. Vin and Eppie are such a great couple.

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: Late Summer Engagement (an Organic Nature short)

Well, it's been a week. I hit a slump even though I got a lot accomplished. Not sure why I ended up being so distracted, but I struggled to stay focused on anything.

Had a very slow viewing week, probably due to being randomly distracted by everything.

I watched another episode of Strangest Things and enjoyed the artifacts featured. This show makes interesting connections when they're trying to figure out what something is.

Caught a Death in Paradise marathon, which ended up being fun to watch. I'm still doing a full watch in chronological order, but fun to have a whole day of great episodes.

Enjoyed another episode of Battlestar Galactica. We finished up the first half of season two and during our discussion we remembered how long we had to wait for the next half, especially because the episode kind of ends on something of a cliffhanger. And there were so many great moments in this episode!

I planned to start Cannes Confidential this week but ended up being too distracted. I'll be watching it in the very near future and will post my reaction next week.

That's pretty much it for television this week. Tonight's post is from Late Summer Engagement, an Organic Nature short for the month of August.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Vin's ready to spend his life with Eppie, but he's not sure she wants to be the marrying kind. Instead of proposing, he suggests something a little different. As usual, Eppie surprises him with her response.

And a snippety peek…

Eppie traced her fingers over the new latticework Vin installed. "What are you trying to teach me, Gram?" She settled on one of the rebuilt benches.

A soft breeze fluttered through the arbor. The wind chimes tinkled in the corner.

Eppie glanced up. "You like it, don't you?" Her palms brushed over the smooth, sanded surface. "My man does excellent work."

Vin did the sanding by hand with loving care. He wanted to save as much of the original as possible.

The ribbons hanging from the pergola danced and bounced. Eppie's lips quirked at the sight—almost as if her grandmother granted her approval.

Eppie closed her eyes and let her mind drift. An image of fall flowers and fairy lights surrounding the finished arbor took shape and rows of seating filled the space between the house and the quiet sanctuary. Eppie smiled. The setting would be lovely for a wedding.

Her eyes snapped open. "A wedding?" Surely that's not what Gram means.

Then again, why wouldn't she?

Eppie didn't have to shut her eyes to envision Vin in a dark suit standing in the center of the arched area. She pictured it clearly in her mind. He'd have a huge smile and love in his eyes when she walked up to meet him.

A wedding. Geez.

A small shudder went through Eppie at the thought. She loved Vin with her whole heart. And he loved her. She didn't doubt his commitment or his motivation for being with her.

But why couldn't they just share their lives?

The breeze swirled around her sending ripples through the hanging ivy, creating dappled shadows on the ground.

Eppie chuckled. "I know, Gram. Because neither of us has actually said that's what we want to do." Living together and sharing space didn't mean actually living together with the intention of forever.

Maybe it's time to make that official.

Eppie's brain finished out the scene. There would be family and friends, food and fellowship, and the future fanning out before them.

She took a moment to commit the picture to memory. "Now to convince Vin…" A nervous frisson snaked down her spine.

What if he hates the idea?

This part of Eppie and Vin's story is still taking shape. There's still a question of will they or won't they get married … or possibly choose an alternative unique to them.

That's it for this week. Happy reading!

Sunday Snippet: Late Summer Engagement (An Organic Nature Short)

Well, September is off to a bumpy start. Not in a bad way, more like a "here are some changes, let's see how you like them" kind of thing. So far… meh… I'm not a big fan. LOL

Got some solid television viewing in. I'm still not back to the usual schedule, but I'm getting there. Right in time for the new seasons to start.

Last week, I caught Chicago Fire and I'm almost at the end of season six. Also caught another episode of Luke Cage and a few episodes of Classic Who. I also watched the second episode of Driven from Passionflix.

Started Penny Dreadful and wow, not at all what I expected and better than I thought it would be. Looking forward to more of this show.

Caught another episode of Killjoys and, seriously, I love this show so much!! The banter is sheer perfection and the complicated relationships are awesome. I got another episode of The Dresden Files in and caught a couple of Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries. Followed that up with Canal Road. I have two episodes left of this one and I'm still not one hundred percent sure if I've called the killer of Spence's wife. Guess I'll find out soon.

Watched another series thirteen episode of Midsomer Murders and followed that with Babylon 5 and The Sarah Conner Chronicles. I also watched a marathon of Hallmark Channel's The Good Witch movies.

All in all, not a bad week for television. Tonight's post is from Late Summer Engagement, an Organic Nature Short.

Here's the mini-blurb:

Vin's ready to spend his life with Eppie, but he's not sure she wants to be the marrying kind. Instead of proposing, he suggests something a little different. As usual, Eppie surprises him with her response.

And a snippety peek…

Vin Derbish met Eppie Collins on the far end of the fenced-in section around the old farmhouse she called home. "Hey, Ep. Sorry I'm late." He gave her a one-armed hug and dropped a kiss on her mouth.
She gave him a smile. "You're not really. I've been out her for a while, chatting with my gram." Her hand brushed over the ivy-covered arbor. "This place holds so many memories."
Vin cast a contractor's gaze over the structure. "It's in some danger of being overtaken by the ivy." A good pruning would probably reveal some weak spots in the lattice-worked limbs that formed an archway with bench seating on either side.
The pergola also had some heavy vines wreaking havoc on the sturdiness. A couple of weekends and maybe a few evenings could restore the arbor to its former glory. He might even be able to add a few enhancements—a water feature and a few stone pieces, possibly—to really make it special.
Okay, even more special. Eppie already loved the space.
She wrapped an arm around him. "You're imagining possibilities, aren't you?" Her head lolled on his shoulder.
Vin chuckled. "Yeah, I am. But what do you want here, Ep? I'm assuming you asked me to meet you here because it's showing signs of age." But also loving care because the bench sections were ivy-free.
Eppie moved away from him and stood in the center of the arbor. "My gram and gramps built this the year they got married. It's been here over seventy years." She turned and met his gaze. "I'd like it to last another seventy." Her mouth curved in a suggestive grin.
Vin had a singular moment of clarity. I want to spend those seventy years with you. He did. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with Eppie Collins.
He only had one problem. Eppie never wanted to get married. Who says you have to be married to spend your life together?
Yeah… no one said they had to tie the knot. The beginnings of a plan took shape in his mind.
He rocked back on his heels, determined to make this arbor a dream spot for her. "Let's go to the shed and draw up some plans." He held out a hand.
Eppie gave him the widest smile. "I love that idea." She grasped his palm. "What were you thinking? I'd love to add a water feature."
Great minds think alike.

I love this couple so much. They're not full of angst but they have conflicts they work through and solve.

That's it for this week. Happy reading!
