Sunday Snippet: Spring Chickens (Organic Nature)

Gearing up for a busy week with work projects and my youngest's graduation from college. I think we're also going to have some nasty weather, which should be fun.

Had a solid week of work and writing, which makes me very happy. I might be finding my groove again. I so hope I am. I'm not a fan of being unable to focus when I need to.

Had a decent week of television viewing. Made it through the modified list of shows and started over.

I caught the final two behind the character bonuses for My Life Is Murder. I'm somewhat hoping there's another season. Based on a little research, I think there might be.

Also watched two episodes of Madame Blanc Mysteries. Both were enjoyable. Kind of sad to see the pub owners no longer with the cast but interested in Dom's uncle being a possible addition. Hopefully he won't be too shady.

Enjoyed the two-part Silent Witness. A lot of twists and turns in this one and I liked them. Looking forward to starting a new two-parter this week.

Finished up season six and started season seven of Death in Paradise. I'm excited to dive further into Jack's tenure as the DI. It feels like this is when cast members start their merry-go-round of coming and going. But I'm looking forward to more of this show.

Caught another episode of Elementary and Moriarty is making their presence known. I'm kind of interested in how this might play out over the seasons. I'm very much loving the dynamic with Sherlock and Watson.

Watched another episode of The Batman. I guess it was the season two finale. It always kind of annoys me when the first season is twice as long as the remaining ones. That said, pretty sure Robin makes an appearance in season three so there's that.

Enjoyed an episode of Classic Rugrats. Again, these were new-to-me vignettes. Not sure what happened with season seven during the original run, but I'm happy to see those now.

Also finished up the Peak Practice episode I started a while ago. Hoping to get another one in this week.

"Where are my little munchkins?" Eppie entered her house and set her bag inside the door.

Her niece and nephew came running from the living room, bouncing up and down with excitement.

Lily followed, her lips quirked in a grin.

Eppie's brows arched. "Wow, you're happy to see me." Her gaze narrowed. "Or did you two get into the Easter candy?"

Her niece rolled her eyes. "Aunt Eppie, it's not even Easter yet. We don't have candy to get into."

Lily grabbed her tote bag from the counter. "They were finishing off the brownies I made earlier. The test run of the new recipe meets their approval." She patted the outside pocket. "Should be a hit at Mom's brunch."

Eppie walked Lily to the door. "Thanks for staying. I'm so glad you were able to pinch hit until I got here." Vin snuck past them and greeted the kids.

Lily leaned in close. "They're a little worried about their dad. Brave faces for now, but I wanted to let you know that might not last once the sugar high wears off." She pushed the door open.

Eppie followed her. "Thanks for the heads-up. Vin and I will find things to keep them occupied. Maybe we'll stream movies on the side of the house tonight and pop popcorn over a fire."

Lily laughed. "They'll love that. Let me know if you need anything." She waved and headed for her car.

Eppie went back inside and found Vin rinsing the plates and glasses in the sink.

She stuck her hands in his back pockets and squeezed his ass. "Movie night outside? We can start a fire and curl up with blankets and pop popcorn."

Vin frowned. "Mmm. Might be better inside. Supposed to dip down into the low thirties." He grabbed a dishtowel and turned to face her. "We can still pop corn over the fire in here." A slow grin crossed his face. "And build a blanket fort." He waggled his eyebrows.

Eppie chuckled. "Kids'll love building a fort. I'm going to assume we'll have them overnight, so indoor campout should be fun." She tilted her chin up and planted a kiss on Vin. "Good plan. You won't mind if they have to stay, will you?" She usually went to Dani's if they needed someone overnight.

Vin shook his head. "Nah. I might have to head out tomorrow to finish up a few odds and ends at the cabin, but I'll wait to see what's going on with Ken first."

Eppie smiled and eased away from Vin. "Hey, kiddos, how does an indoor campout sound?" Might as well get them started on picking a movie.

The squeals and cheers coming from the living room were off the chart happy ones.

Eppie grabbed the phone. "Think I'll order pizza for dinner." She keyed the number in.

Vin's lips curved. "Are you bucking for the best aunt ever award?"

Eppie snorted. "I already have that honor. This is just one of the reasons why I do." Spoiling her sister's kids ranked high on Eppie's list of fun things to do.

Even if it drove Dani nuts sometimes.

I'm not quite sure where this story is going yet. I know what I think should happen, but Eppie and Vin don't always go where I want them to.

Sunday Snippet: Spring Chickens

October is starting out really well and I hope it's a sign of things to come. My work projects have picked up again and I'm so happy! I'm also making progress on the great clean out again. I've also taken to spending fifteen to thirty minutes before I go to bed reading something that interests me. I've got a ton of new research books and I love digging into them.

Pretty decent week for television viewing. I watched four episodes of The Muppet Show. The guest stars were Shields and Yarnell, Dyan Cannon, Victor Borge, and Linda Lavin. Pretty good episodes all in all.

Caught two episodes of Prime Suspect, which finished out season four. So far, the episodes are standing up and I like revisiting them.

Watched two episodes of Peak Practice. Will said good-bye and headed for Bristol and the newly formed trio is finding their footing. The second episode ended up being quite dramatic with explosions and emergencies all around.

Enjoyed the second lesson of Master Class with Brandon McMillan. He focused on variables that make dogs unique. I already have some good information based on the two types of dogs I have.

Caught Making the Witcher and liked diving deep into how everything gets put together behind the scenes. I'll probably be starting a new show this week.

Enjoyed Artist to Icon: Madonna. She came onto the music scene in my early adulthood and I've always enjoyed her music. Nice to see some new information about her long and storied career.

Watched another episode of Classic Rugrats. As usual, I get sucked right back into the past when my oldest was a tiny baby and watching the show with my husband in the evenings.

Caught an episode of Chicago Med and thoroughly enjoyed it. I like how the relationships and friendships work on the show and even when the characters make me angry, I can see where they're coming from.

Loved the latest episode of The Brokenwood Mysteries. Breen's discomfort whenever he tangled with the abrasive Trudy proved valid even if she ended up not quite fitting the mold most, including me, cast her in.

Watched the first part of Silent Witness. I remember this one but not how it turned out. I'm always interested when the characters end up on opposite sides of a case. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays out again.

Enjoyed Classic Who's finale arc of season nineteen. Looks like Teegan won't be returning for the twentieth season, leaving the Doctor with one companion. Should start the new season this week.

Finished out the season of UFO Conspiracies. I'll be starting a new UFO show this week and I'm kind of hoping it will be a good one.

Vin turned the shower on and let the water warm up. "Gonna join me?" He stepped into the oversized stall they'd finished late yesterday.

Eppie dropped her shorts and yanked her shirt over her head. "Absolutely. I've been looking forward to this all day." She eased in front of him, ducking her head under the spray.

Vin grabbed the shampoo and worked it into her tresses. He loved making her wild with a scalp massage.

Eppie gave a low moan. "You've got magic fingers." She rinsed the suds out and took her turn with some body wash, soaping up Vin's shoulders, back, and torso.

When she moved down to grasp his erection, he nudged her up against the wall. "Uh-uh. Not yet. It's my turn…" He started with her breasts, grinning when the tips pebbled under his fingers.

He moved up to her shoulders then skimmed his palms over her back. Reaching lower, he cupped her ass and pulled her flush against him. She grasped his biceps and flexed her hips.

Shuffling to one side, he got them under the spray to rinse off. Eppie braced her shoulders against the wall and Vin caught her legs, wrapping them around his waist. Cutting the water down to a trickle, Eppie rocked her hips.

Vin slid forward, entering her with a smooth thrust. "Ah, Ep, wet and ready." He never tired of her warm sheath surrounding his cock.

She gave another low moan. "Been thinking about this all day." Her hands grasped his shoulders and she moved back and forth over his length.

Vin followed her out. "You know you think it's sexy when I give my head a good shake and let it dry where it falls." He shrugged into a T-shirt.

Eppie didn't respond and Vin turned to find out why.

She held her phone to her ear and when she met his gaze, she frowned. "Dani left a voice mail. Something's wrong with Ken. I need to call her back." She finished dressing and went out to the main room to speak to her sister.

Vin got everything together and zipped up the bags … just in case they had to make a quick getaway to head back home.

Eppie poked her head into the bedroom. "Ken thinks he's got a kidney stone and Dani needed to take him to the ED. She dropped the kids off at my house and Lily is going to keep an eye on them until we can get there. You don't mind, do you?"

He held up their overnight cases. "Nope. Got everything packed and ready."

Eppie quickly updated Dani then cut the call. She crossed the floor and put her arms around him. "Thank you. You're the absolute best."

Vin cracked a smile. "I aim to please." And he always would.

Eppie and Vin are going to get a crash course in family togetherness and playing the Easter bunny for kids.

Sunday Snippet: Spring Chickens

I'm always blown away when July arrives and I realize half the year is really gone. The whole time speeds up when we get older thing is absolutely a thing.

Fairly busy week but stayed caught up with most of the shows I'm watching. Started out with In the Dark and watched two episodes. My heart kind of breaks for everyone on this show. And, again, I keep going back to how messy everything is. The episode with Murphy and Max on the run truly ended on a cliffhanger. Need to watch another episode soon.

                   

Caught an episode of Blade, the penultimate one. This series was ahead of its time and I wish it had the chance to realize its full potential.

Also caught the season finale of Chicago Fire, which ended on a cliffhanger. I literally had to call my dad—a retired fire chief and still active in our local department—to decompress. He's also a fan.

Watched another Classic Roswell episode. This one started moving the plot forward and tightening the bonds between the group. That means it's almost time for a wedge to show up and pull them all apart.

Frankie Drake Mysteries had a great episode. I loved how the women pulled all the threads to solve their case and it's interesting to see Frankie end up with a new enemy. Lots of fodder for future episodes.

Once again, Riverdale pulled out all the super batshit crazy it could find. I do love, love, love that FP is now the new sheriff. I'm dying to know what Hermoine meant when she said it's finally time. There better be a payoff there. Alice makes my head spin with her insane loyalty to the farm creepies. I truly hope I end up enjoying that storyline because I have a feeling that shit isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Kind of sad Veronica practically ran back into the fold when Hiram got shot but it makes for good conversation. Almost fell out of my seat when Tallboy arrived back on my screen. Can't say I'm upset he didn't stick around.

Watched an episode of Arrow and, wow, quite a few revelations. Having Emiko be the leader of the dark knights is just the kind of twist I like. Kind of sad she's pushing Laurel back toward her dark persona. That'll be interesting to see next week.

Caught another episode of Blue Heelers and can't say I liked the creepy dude they had to bring in to nab the home invaders. Kind of glad Doyle sent him packing and didn't fall for his creeptastic come-on lines. Geez. Also started a new episode but only got the first few minutes watched.

Krypton had a great episode. Glad Seg is free of Brainiac, or at least I hope he is. I love how twisty this show is right now. It's very hard to tell who is playing against who and I like that. Never knowing which direction a character will turn is fun.

I'm almost finished with Painkiller Jane. The standard groundhog day episode ended up being better than I remembered. I don't always love those kinds of episodes.

Watched the season two premiere of Durham County and, yeah, this show is still dark and twisted. I love it.

Eppie Collins loaded the cooler in the back of Hannah Rhodes's SUV. "Thanks for bringing dinner out. Vin should have the kitchen put back together later tonight." She shut the door and walked around to the driver's side window.

Hannah grinned. "Speak of the devil." She nodded toward Vin when he came out on the porch of the small cabin, sitting on the property of the bed and breakfast Hannah and her partner, Emily, ran.

Holly Hollow had a beautiful setting and the cabin on the other side of the land parcel also had a peaceful, gorgeous approach.

Eppie put her forearms on the door. "When is your brother due in?" She and Vin would have the long Easter weekend to get things ready.

Hannah shrugged. "Should be the first week in May, maybe the second. He's not sure when he'll be back from his extended vacation after being released from the service." An army veteran, Greg mustered out just after the first of the year.

Vin strode over and braced an arm on the side of Hannah's vehicle. "I'm pretty much done here, other than getting the stove and fridge moved back in. I might come up again next week to do some touch ups."

Hannah smiled. "I can't thank you enough, Vin. Greg doesn't know what he's going to do yet and this will give him some time to figure it out." She leaned closer. "Personally, I can't wait to have him back. He's eight years younger than me, but we've always been close."

Eppie glanced toward Vin. "Need any help on your crews?" If nothing else, Greg could work over the summer when Vin usually needed some extra hands.

Vin lifted a shoulder. "I've already extended the offer to Hannah. If Greg wants to earn some bank over the summer, I can use him." He shifted his attention to Hannah. "Doesn't have to be full-time. I'm happy to let him work when he wants to." He stepped away and tapped on the roof of the car. "Heading back in. Thanks for letting us use the cabin this weekend."

Hannah laughed. "Are you kidding? It's the least I can do for the paltry amount you're charging me to bring it up to code." She shared a look with Eppie. "Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

Eppie chuckled and eased away from the vehicle. "Good thing that gives me plenty of options." She waved and headed back to the small building Greg would call home soon.

Vin met her on the porch. "Wanna help me get the stove and fridge back in?" He nodded toward the appliances, sitting in the yard.

Eppie waggled her eyebrows. "Absolutely. Nothing makes me hotter than watching your muscles bulge while you work." She bent down and grabbed the straps of the moving gear.

Vin preened and strutted around. "We can cool you down in the shower as soon as we're done."

Eppie gave a happy sigh. More like they'd heat things up in the shower, which suited her just fine.

This series is so much fun and this story is a bit of a turning point for Eppie and Vin when they have to face a few things they haven't considered yet.
